ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Islamic views on slavery

In Islam, slavery is not allowed. The Quran, which is the religious book for Muslims, teaches us that everyone is equal, and that all people should be treated with respect and kindness. This means that it is not okay for one person to own another person like a kind of property. Some people in the past had slaves (people who were owned by another person and treated without respect), but this is not okay in Islam.
