Isolation transformer

An isolation transformer is a special type of transformer that keeps electric wires and devices safe. When two or more different electronic devices are connected, the voltage of one device can cause problems for the other device. An isolation transformer helps to prevent this problem by keeping the electricity in each device separate.

Imagine you are playing with two toys, and you don’t want them to touch or interfere with each other. You can put a big box in between the toys, and each toy can stay in its own space. And that's what an isolation transformer does - it keeps the electricity in each device “boxed” separately, so that it does not interfere with other devices.

In an isolation transformer, the primary and secondary coils are separated by a solid barrier, which keeps the electricity from jumping from one coil to another. This barrier prevents any electrical interference and is sometimes called a "Faraday Shield."

So, in simpler terms, an isolation transformer protects electronic devices from interfering with each other by keeping them separate and preventing any electrical interference.
