Italian Campaign (World War II)

During World War II, Italy was an Axis power that fought against the Allied forces. Italy's army, called the Royal Italian Army, fought in the Italian Campaign, which involved battles in all the major cities in Italy, from 1943 to 1945. During the Campaign, soldiers from Italy and the Allied countries fought for control of the country. People from both sides suffered, and Italy was left in ruins at the end. The Italian Campaign ultimately resulted in the Allied victory, and Italy's surrender to the Allied forces in May 1945.
