ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Italo–Ethiopian Treaty of 1928

Okay kiddo, back in 1928, Italy and Ethiopia made a deal called the Italo-Ethiopian Treaty. This meant that they would agree to be friends and work together to help each other out.

It was a pretty important deal because Italy was a big, powerful country, and Ethiopia was a smaller, less powerful country. The treaty helped Ethiopia feel more secure and protected, like they weren't alone in the world.

But sadly, this friendship didn't last very long. A few years later, Italy decided they wanted more land and power in Africa, so they broke the treaty and invaded Ethiopia. This was very unfair and hurtful to the Ethiopian people.

So while the Italo-Ethiopian Treaty started out as a good thing, it ended up being a hurtful experience for Ethiopia. It reminds us that we always need to treat our friends with kindness and respect, and never break our promises.
