James Barney Marsh

James Barney Marsh is a person who lived a long time ago, kind of like a character in a story. He was born in the 1800s, which is a really long time ago. People didn't have cars or phones back then, and things were very different.

James Barney Marsh was known for doing something really brave. He was part of a group of soldiers who fought in a big war. This war was really scary because people were shooting at each other with guns. James Barney Marsh was a special soldier called a color bearer, which means he carried a big flag that had special meaning. The soldiers looked to the flag to know where to go and what was happening in the battle.
