Jamesway hut
A Jamesway hut is a type of shelter that is made out of metal and canvas. Think of it like a really big tent that is able to keep you safe and warm when you're out camping. Unlike a regular tent, a Jamesway hut is more sturdy and can be used in places where it gets really cold, like in the mountains or in the Arctic.
The hut is built in a shape that looks like a half cylinder or an igloo. The metal frame is curved to make this shape, and then canvas is stretched over it to make a cover. The canvas is usually a light color like white or beige to help reflect sunlight and keep it cool inside during the summer. But during the winter, insulation can be added to the inside of the canvas to help keep the warm air from escaping.
Jamesway huts were first designed during World War II to be used as barracks and storage buildings for soldiers. They were also used for temporary housing after natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes. Today, people still use them for camping, hunting, and as emergency shelters when they need a safe, warm place to stay.
