Jarilo

Jarilo is a character from Slavic mythology who is said to be the son of Perun, the thunder god. He is often associated with the changing of seasons, especially the transition from winter to spring.

Imagine that the world is like a big ball, and the ball is spinning around the sun. In different parts of the world, the ball is tilted in different ways. When the tilt is just right, it makes the seasons change.

When it's winter, everything is cold and icy. The trees lose their leaves, and the animals go to sleep. But as the tilt of the ball changes, it starts to get warmer. The snow melts, and the flowers start to grow again. This is when Jarilo comes into play.

Jarilo is said to be a young god who brings the spring back. He brings new life and energy to everything around him. The grass starts growing, and the animals wake up from their long sleep.

Some people even say that Jarilo is a fertility god. That means he helps plants and animals make babies, so there are more of them in the world.

Even though Jarilo is a mythological figure, people still celebrate his coming every year. They hold festivals and dances to welcome the spring back. It's a time to be happy and grateful for the new life that Jarilo brings.
