ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jiahu

Jiahu is a fancy way of saying a place where people lived a really long time ago. Think of it like a village but from a super long time ago. It was in China, which is a really big country.

Jiahu was really special because people found something there that was really old and interesting. They found big jars that were used to make something called alcohol. Alcohol is a kind of drink that can make you feel funny if you have too much of it.

To make the alcohol, people used special grains called rice and a plant called hawthorn. They soaked the grains and plant in water and then waited for them to start making bubbles. They also used a special kind of mold to help make the bubbles.

The bubbles turned into alcohol and then people drank it! They even wrote down how to make it on a special kind of shell that they found there.

Jiahu is really special because it helps us learn about how people lived a really long time ago and what kind of things they did for fun. Plus, it's really cool that we can still find things like old jars and shells and learn from them today.
