ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Johari window

Johari Window is a way for people to better understand their relationship with others. It works by asking people to share what they think and feel about themselves with other people. Then, with the help of another person who knows you, they can put your thoughts and feelings in a four-part window. The four parts are:

1. Open area - which is all the things that you and other people know about you
2. Blind area - this is all the things that other people know about you, but you don’t know about yourself
3. Unknown area - this is all the things that neither you nor the other person knows about you
4. Hidden area - this is all the things that you know about yourself, but the other person doesn’t.

By looking at all four areas, you can better understand how you interact with other people and your environment. You can also start to identify new insights and understanding about yourself that you can apply. This can be very helpful in improving relationships with other people.
