ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

John Archibald Wheeler

John Archibald Wheeler was a really smart man who knew a lot about space and time. He was born a long, long time ago in 1911 in the United States. He grew up to be a famous physicist, which means he studied how the world works and used science to figure out how things happen.

One of the things John Archibald Wheeler studied a lot was black holes. Black holes are like cosmic vacuum cleaners that suck in everything that comes too close, including light. This means that once you’re too close to a black hole, you can’t escape because you’re going too fast and you get stuck inside.

John Archibald Wheeler also came up with many cool ideas about how the universe works. He said that everything in the universe is connected, and that space and time are actually the same thing. He even gave this idea a fancy name: the “geometrodynamics of the universe”.

Another thing John Archibald Wheeler did was he helped people understand more about how atoms work. Atoms are the tiny building blocks of everything, and by learning more about how they work, we can learn more about how the world around us works too.

Overall, John Archibald Wheeler was a really smart man who helped us learn more about space, time, and the universe.
