John Bowlby

John Bowlby was a British psychologist who studied how children form strong and secure relationships with their parents. He believed that strong relationships between parents and children help children to feel safe and secure, and that this is important for their well-being. He said that if a child did not have positive relationships with their parents, he or she would develop behavioral and emotional problems. Bowlby also believed that these problems could continue into adulthood if they were not addressed in childhood. He became famous for developing the theory of attachment, which is the idea that babies and toddlers form strong bonds with their caregivers, based on how their caregivers interact with them. Bowlby's ideas have been very influential in psychology and are still used today in counseling and therapy.
