John Burns (farmer)
John Burns is a farmer who grows plants and raises animals.
When John was a little boy, he loved playing with dirt and watching plants grow. As he grew older, he learned that he could use his love for plants to grow food for people to eat. He became a farmer!
As a farmer, John has a big piece of land called a farm. This land is like his own special garden, but much bigger! He can grow lots of different plants on his farm, like corn, wheat, and vegetables.
To take care of his plants, John has to do a lot of things. He needs to make sure the soil is healthy by adding good things like compost and fertilizer. He also needs to water his plants regularly so they can grow strong and healthy. Sometimes, he even has to scare away bugs that want to eat his plants!
But growing plants is not the only thing John does. He also raises animals on his farm. He has cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep. These animals need food and water, just like plants. John takes care of them by giving them the right kind of food and making sure they have a clean place to live.
When the plants and animals on John's farm are ready, he harvests them. Harvesting means picking or collecting the food that is ready to be eaten. For example, when the corn is tall and the kernels are plump, John will pick them from the stalks. He does the same with vegetables when they are nice and ripe.
After John harvests his crops, he can sell them to people who want to eat fresh and healthy food. He might bring his corn and vegetables to a market or sell them directly to a grocery store. Some people even come to his farm to buy his products!
Being a farmer like John is hard work, but it is also rewarding. He gets to see the plants and animals he cares for grow and provide food for people. And whenever he sees someone enjoying the food from his farm, it makes him very happy!
