John McGrath (playwright)

Okay kiddo, do you know what a playwright is?

A playwright is someone who writes plays, which are stories that are acted out on stage by actors. John McGrath was one of these playwrights.

He was born a long time ago in Scotland, and he liked to write about important topics that he felt needed to be talked about, like politics and social issues.

One of his most famous plays is called "The Cheviot, the Stag, and the Black, Black Oil." In this play, he told the story of Scotland's history and how the government and big companies were taking advantage of the people and the land.

John McGrath also believed that theater should be available to everyone, not just the rich and powerful. So he started a theater company called "7:84" that traveled around Scotland and performed plays in small towns and villages.

Overall, John McGrath was a very talented playwright who used his plays to make people think about important issues and to make theater accessible to everyone.
