Joint wills and mutual wills are two types of wills. A will is a legal document that states what should happen to your possessions after you die.
Joint wills are made by two or more people. The wills are the same and the possessions are split equally between the people who made the will.
Mutual wills are also made by two or more people, but they are not necessarily the same. Usually, they state how each person's possessions will be divided after they die. The difference between a joint will and a mutual will is that with a mutual will each person can leave their possessions to someone else, like family members or friends, without the other people needing to agree.
