Jougs

Jougs is a word that describes a kind of punishment device that was used a long time ago. It looks like a big metal collar that goes around someone's neck and had a chain attached to it.

When someone did something wrong or committed a crime, they would be punished by being put in the Jougs. This was meant to keep them from running away or causing more trouble. The way it worked was that the chain would be attached to a big heavy object like a stone or a wall, and the person would have to stay there until their punishment was up.

It wasn't a very nice thing to do to someone, because being stuck in the Jougs was uncomfortable and embarrassing. But back then, people thought it was a good way to control bad behavior. Nowadays, we use different methods to punish people when they do something wrong, and the Jougs is not something that is used anymore.
