Judgment notwithstanding verdict is a legal term. It means that a judge can tell the jury that their verdict does not matter and decide the case themselves. For example, if the jury decides a person is not guilty of a crime but the judge thinks the person is guilty, the judge can overrule the jury's decision and declare the person guilty.
