Judith Butler

Judith Butler is an important philosopher who wrote many books and articles about how society shapes our idea of gender. She said that our ideas of gender are more like an performance, or something that people put on, than simply a natural difference between genders. She argued that gender is something that is taught and shaped by society, and everyone gets to decide what kind of performance they want to put on. So basically, Judith Butler wanted people to think about gender differently and see it as something that is shaped by society, not something that is a natural difference between men and women.
