Jumping jack (toy)

A jumping jack toy is a little person on a stick that you can make move up and down by pulling on some strings. The little person is usually made of paper or cardboard, and has little arms and legs that stick out.

When you pull the strings, the arms and legs move up and down like they're doing a jumping jack exercise! This makes the little person look like it's dancing or jumping around.

But how does it work? Well, there are usually four strings - two for the arms and two for the legs. When you pull one of the strings, it pulls the arm or leg up, and when you let go, it falls back down by itself.

You can make the jumping jack do all sorts of different moves by pulling on different strings at different times. It's kind of like making a puppet move!

Jumping jacks have been around for a long time - people used to make them out of wood or metal. But now they're mostly made of paper or cardboard and can be really colorful and fun to play with.
