ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jury rig

Jury rigging means making something work in a quick and temporary way, even though it might not be perfect or safe. Imagine you're building a fort with your friends and you don't have enough materials to make it how you want it. So, you might use some string to tie some sticks together or put some cardboard on the roof to keep the rain out. It might not be sturdy, but it will do the job for now. That's kind of like jury rigging. Sometimes adults use this term when they make quick fixes to things at home or at work. It's important to remember that while jury rigging can be helpful in the short term, it's always better to find a more permanent and reliable solution if you can.
