Just So Stories

Just So Stories are stories about animals that explain how certain things became the way they are. The stories usually involve a problem that the animal is trying to figure out, and in the end, the problem is solved and something comes out of it. For example, the story of how the elephant got its trunk might involve an elephant that wants a long nose, so he tries different things until he finds an idea that works, and then his nose grows very long!
