Kösem Sultan was a lady who lived in a very long time ago in the country of Turkey. She was very special because she was the queen! Imagine being a queen – that means she was very important and had a lot of power.
Kösem Sultan was actually the queen twice - she was married to two different kings of Turkey. Her first husband was named Ahmed and when he died, she helped her own son become the new king!
But life as the queen wasn't always easy for Kösem Sultan. There were many people who wanted to be king or queen instead of her, and some of them even tried to hurt or kill her! That's very mean and scary.
But Kösem Sultan was very clever. She knew how to protect herself and also how to make sure her family stayed in power. She became very powerful herself and people respected her a lot.
