Here's how it works: First, someone who needs money to start a business or improve their life makes a request on Kiva. People like you and me can then read their request and decide to lend some of our money to help them out. We can lend as little as $25!
Once enough people have donated, the person requesting the loan gets all the money they need to start their business or make improvements. Over time, they pay the loan back to the people who lent them money through Kiva. Then we can choose to lend our money again to someone else who needs it.
