ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

KUBARK

KUBARK is the name of a book that was written by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) a long time ago. The book talks about different ways to get important information from people.

Imagine you have a toy that someone else wants to play with. But they won't tell you why they want it. You could ask them nicely or try to take it from them, but if that doesn't work, you might need to use some other tricks to find out why they want it.

KUBARK talks about some of those tricks, like asking people questions in a certain way or using special techniques to make them feel more comfortable and open up to you. It also talks about some not-so-nice tricks, like scaring people or making them feel really uncomfortable to get them to talk.

But it's important to know that sometimes those tricks can be dangerous or not very nice to use on people. That's why organizations like the CIA have rules about when and how they can use those tricks.
