Kampong (village)

Okay, so imagine you live in a big city with lots of tall buildings and busy streets. Now, imagine going to visit your grandma who lives in a small village out in the countryside.

This village is called a kampong. It's a special type of village found mostly in Southeast Asia. A kampong is like a little town that has houses made out of wood and grass roofs. They don't have big skyscrapers like in the city.

In the kampong, everyone knows everyone else. They all help each other out with things like farming and cooking. The kids play together and go to a small school where there's just one or two teachers. Sometimes, the animals like chickens and cows wander around the village too.

There's a lot of nature in a kampong. There might be a river where people fish or a big field where they grow fruits and vegetables. People also like to sit outside their homes in the evening and listen to the sounds of the night.

So, that's what a kampong is - a little village in the countryside where people live in traditional houses, help each other out, and enjoy nature around them.
