Okay kiddo, let's talk about something called "Kandyan era frescoes". These are really old paintings that were made on the walls of buildings, way back in a time when your great great grandparents were not even born yet!
During the Kandyan era, which was a period in the history of Sri Lanka, many artists created beautiful paintings using special colors and techniques that were different from how we make paintings today. These paintings were mostly made in Buddhist temples, palaces, and other important buildings.
Now, a "fresco" is a type of painting that is made on wet plaster. The artist would mix the colors with water and then brush them onto the wet plaster. As the plaster dried, the colors would become a part of the wall, making the painting last a really long time.
The Kandyan era frescoes were very detailed and colorful. They often showed images of scenes from the life of Buddha, various gods and goddesses, animals, and people from different walks of life. The artists who created these frescoes had to be very patient and skilled, because the process of making them was not easy at all!
Today, many of these beautiful Kandyan era frescoes can still be seen in Sri Lanka. People from all over the world come to admire them and learn more about the rich history and culture of this amazing country.
