Kaplan–Meier estimator

The Kaplan–Meier estimator (or product limit estimator) is a way to estimate how many of a group of people (or other items) will survive a certain amount of time. It works by counting how many are still alive at different points in time and then using a special formula to figure out how many will still be alive in the future. It is most often used to find out how long people with certain diseases are likely to live.
