ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Katar (dagger)

A katar is a special type of dagger that has a blade that is shaped like a triangular cone with sharp edges. The handle of the katar is unique because it is gripped in such a way that the blade of the dagger comes out from between the fingers of the wielder's fist.

Think of it as a dinosaur claw, but smaller and easier to carry around. Imagine you are holding a big ice cream cone with three sharp edges. That is what a katar blade looks like. But instead of holding the ice cream, you hold onto the handle of the katar, which is like holding onto a stick that has two pointed ends.

When you are holding a katar, you put your fingers around the handle and grip tightly. Then, you can use the sharp blade that is sticking out to poke or stab at things. The katar is very useful in hand-to-hand combat because it allows you to stab your enemy while also giving you a way to defend yourself.

Some people think that the katar looks very cool and they enjoy collecting them. But, it's important to remember that it is a very dangerous weapon and should only be used in self-defense or in a controlled environment like a martial arts class.
