Katharine Bushnell was a lady who lived a long time ago, like before your grandparents or great-grandparents were even born! She was very smart and went to school to study things like medicine and law. She wanted to help girls and ladies who were being treated unfairly and not very kindly by some people because of things like where they came from or what they did for a living.
One of the things that Katharine did to help these girls and ladies was to go to different places where they worked or lived. She talked to them and heard their stories, and wrote them down in a book called "God's Word to Women." In this book, she explained that girls and ladies were just as important as boys and men and that they should all be treated equally and with kindness.
Katharine also went to different countries, like China and India, to learn more about how girls and ladies were being treated there. She found out that in some places, they weren't allowed to go to school or get good jobs because people thought they weren't as important as boys and men. Katharine wanted to change that, so she wrote more books and talked to people in charge to convince them to treat girls and ladies better.
Even though Katharine lived a long time ago, her work still helps girls and ladies today. Because of her, we know that everyone is important, no matter where they come from or what they look like. We can all be kind and treat each other with respect, just like Katharine did.
