ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kathavatthu

Kathavatthu is a big group of talk-y stories that some very old people from a very long time ago (like, before grandpa's grandpa's grandpa's grandpa's time) wrote and talked about. They were trying to figure out the truth about what was right and wrong in Buddhism, and they had lots of different ideas. Some people said one thing was true, and other people said something different was true. They talked and talked and talked for a really long time, trying to figure out what was the right way to think about things. They also wrote down their ideas in a big book so people could read it and learn from it later on. So basically, Kathavatthu is just a bunch of people talking about what they think is right in Buddhism and trying to find the truth together.
