Kathleen M. Drew-Baker was a scientist who studied a special type of seaweed called nori. Nori is a type of seaweed that many people eat in sushi. Drew-Baker discovered that this type of seaweed has a life cycle like most plants, meaning it goes through different stages of growth before it can be harvested for eating. Before Drew-Baker's discovery, nobody knew how to cultivate nori, so it was just harvested from the wild in Japan. Thanks to her research, nori can now be grown and harvested in many other parts of the world, making it easier for people to enjoy delicious sushi rolls!
