ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kaupang

Kaupang was a really old place where people used to live a long time ago in Norway. It was a village or a town where many people would come together to trade things like fur, fish, and grain.

The people who lived in Kaupang would build houses and have workshops to make things to trade. They would use money called "silver coins" to buy things they needed from others.

Kaupang was an important place because it was near the sea, where boats could come and go with goods. It was also near a river, which made it easier to transport things by water.

Today, people can visit the site where Kaupang used to be and learn about what life was like for people who lived there a long, long time ago.
