Key server (cryptographic)

A cryptographic key server is like a tool that helps keep information and messages secure by using encryption. Encryption is a way of scrambling a message or information so that only the people meant to use it can understand it. The key server helps make sure that the encrypted message or information is secure and only goes to the people who are supposed to get it. It works by having two different keys: a public key and a private key. The public key allows people to "lock" a message or information with encryption. The private key is the only way to unlock the message or information and allows it to be read or used.
