ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Keycard

Ok kiddo, let's talk about keycards. Have you ever seen a hotel keycard? It's a little plastic card that you use to open the door to your hotel room.

But how does it work? Well, inside the card there is a tiny computer chip that holds information, like a secret code. When you hold the card up to the card reader on the hotel room door, the reader sends a message to the chip in the keycard.

The chip in the keycard then sends back the secret code to the reader, and if the code matches what the reader is expecting, the door unlocks!

It's like a secret password that only the keycard and the card reader know. And that's how keycards work! They use technology to keep things safe and secure. Cool, right?
