Khalistan movement

The Khalistan Movement was a movement in the 1980s and 1990s to create an independent nation called Khalistan in the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. The people who wanted to create Khalistan wanted to have their own state with its own government, laws, and culture. They wanted to be separate from both India and Pakistan. The movement was led mostly by Sikhs and resulted in some violence and unrest in the region. In the end, the movement failed, and today Khalistan does not exist.
