ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Khanqah

Okay kiddo, so imagine a big house where grown-ups go to learn more about their religion and how to be better people. This big house is called a khanqah.

Inside the khanqah, there are rooms where people can sleep and eat together, just like a big family. They also have a special room called a mosque where they pray together.

The grown-ups who go to the khanqah are called Sufis and they follow a spiritual path called Sufism. They believe in getting closer to God through meditation, praying and helping others.

Sufis often visit the khanqah to learn from their teachers and to be around other like-minded people who are also working to get closer to God.

So that's what a khanqah is, a big house for grown-ups who follow Sufism to learn and practice their faith together.
