Alright kiddo, let me explain to you what happened during the Khejarli Massacre.
A long time ago, in a village called Khejarli in Rajasthan, India, there was a big tree called the khejri tree. The villagers considered it a sacred tree and would often gather under it for meeting and prayers. The tree was also known to provide shade for travelers.
Now, there was a king named Maharaja Abhay Singh who ruled the nearby kingdom. He had ordered his men to cut down the khejri tree so that he could use its wood for his palace and forts. When the villagers found out, they protested and tried to stop the king's men from cutting down the tree. They even hugged the tree to protect it.
Unfortunately, the king's men didn't listen to the villagers and went ahead with their plan. As a result, 363 people, mostly Bishnois (followers of a religion that emphasizes nature conservation), were killed while protecting the khejri tree.
This incident is now known as the Khejarli Massacre and is remembered as a brave example of people fighting for their beliefs and protecting the environment. The Bishnoi community still holds the khejri tree sacred and have vowed to protect it at all costs.
