ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kinetic depth effect

Kinetic depth effect is when a 2-dimensional image appears to be 3-dimensional due to its movement. Imagine you have a drawing of a chair on a piece of paper. It looks flat and like it has no depth. But if you move the paper back and forth, the chair appears to have depth and pops out at you. This is because the movement causes your brain to perceive it as 3D. It's kind of like playing a trick on your brain! Pretty cool, huh?
