Kir (cocktail)

Kir is a fancy drink made by mixing a special syrup called crème de cassis (pronounced krem-de kah-sees) with white wine. This syrup is made from a fruit called blackcurrant that grows in France.

Making a Kir is very simple. First, someone pours some white wine into a glass. Then, they add a little bit of the crème de cassis syrup. The syrup is very sweet and dark colored, so it turns the wine into a pretty reddish color.

Some people like to add a special type of bubbly water called soda water, or sparkling water, to make the drink fizzy. Others might add some ice cubes to make it colder.

Kir is named after a man called Canon Felix Kir, who was a priest in France a long time ago. He liked to drink this type of wine and syrup combination, and the drink became famous after him. It's a fancy drink that people like to drink when they want to be fancy and sophisticated.
