Knights Templar

Okay, so a long time ago, like thousands of years ago, some people wanted to protect other people from bad guys, like robbers and bullies. And they did this by creating special groups of fighters called knights. These knights wore shiny armor, rode horses, and carried big swords or other weapons.

One group of knights that became really famous was called the Knights Templar. They lived in Europe a really long time ago, in the 12th and 13th centuries. They were kind of like superheroes back then, because they protected people who wanted to go on religious pilgrimages, which is sort of like a big journey to visit holy places.

The Knights Templar were really good fighters, but they also had another important job. They were like bankers, which means they kept people's money and other valuables safe. They did this by building big, strong castles and churches, which had thick walls and secret rooms.

People trusted the Knights Templar a lot, so they would give them their money and other things to keep safe while they went on long trips. And because the Knights Templar had a lot of money and power, some kings and queens didn't like them very much. Eventually, some of the rulers got jealous of the Knights Templar's power and started to accuse them of things they didn't do, like secretly worshiping the devil and doing bad things.

The end result was that the Knights Templar were disbanded and many were killed or imprisoned. They became legends and are now remembered as some of the bravest and most respected knights in history.
