Knock-down kit

Imagine you are playing with building blocks and you want to make a big and complicated structure. But the problem is that you don't have all the blocks you need. So, you ask your friend to give you some blocks he has that are missing in your collection.

Now, imagine that instead of building blocks, we are talking about car parts. And instead of asking your friend, you order the missing car parts from a factory which is far away from your home. The factory doesn't send you a complete car, but only some basic parts that you need to put together to make a complete car.

This is what a knock-down kit is. It is a kit containing all the essential parts of a car (or any other complex machinery) that are needed to assemble a complete product. When a factory sends a knock-down kit to a distributor or a dealer, they have to put all the parts together to make a fully functional product, like a car or a motorcycle.

The advantage of a knock-down kit is that it is cheaper to ship individual parts than a fully assembled product. It also saves on import taxes since it is technically a set of parts rather than a complete product. Knock-down kits have been used for decades to ship vehicles to different parts of the world to be assembled and sold locally.
