Kolender v. Lawson

Kolender v. Lawson was a court case about whether or not a law in California was fair. The law said that if a police officer asked you your name and you didn't have any ID, you could get in trouble if they thought your answer was made up or fake. A man named Harry Lawson got in trouble for not giving his real name when an officer asked for it. He was upset and took the case to court, saying the law was not fair and violated his rights. The court agreed with him and said that the law was too vague and didn't give clear rules for what was considered a "real" name. This meant that people could get in trouble even if they gave a true name. So, the law was changed to be more clear and fair to everyone.
