Korean Air Lines Flight 007

Korean Air Lines Flight 007 was a flight that crashed on September 1, 1983. It was a planefull of people flying from New York to Seoul, South Korea. As the plane flew over the Sea of Japan, it was shot down by the Soviet Union (a country in Europe at the time). All 269 people on board the plane were killed in the crash. The Soviet Union said they shot down the plane because they thought it was an enemy plane, but the United States and other countries disagreed. The United States and other countries said that the Soviet Union shot down the plane because they wanted to stop the plane from flying over their country. The crash of Korean Air Lines Flight 007 was a tragedy for many people around the world.
