Kudlik

Kudlik is a type of lamp that has been used for a long long time by the Inuit people of Canada and Alaska. It is made by carving a piece of soapstone or a special type of hard clay into a bowl shape. Then a wick made from animal fat is placed in the middle and lit on fire. The soapstone or clay bowl helps to keep the fire contained and prevent it from spreading. The Inuit people use the kudlik to provide light and warmth in their homes during the long and dark winter months. It is also an important tool for cooking and melting snow for drinking water. Think of it like a really cool and traditional lamp that uses fire instead of electricity!
