LC shutter glasses, or Liquid Crystal Shutter Glasses, are a special kind of glasses that can be used to watch movies or play games in 3D.
Here's how they work: when you wear the glasses, a signal tells the liquid crystal display (LCD) lenses in the glasses to change quickly from clear to dark. This happens super fast, many times per second, so that each lens blocks out the light completely for a very short amount of time.
When the display (like a TV or computer monitor) shows two different images at the same time, one for each eye, the glasses make sure that each eye sees only one image at a time. The display switches back and forth between the two images really fast – so fast that we don’t even notice it happening.
When your left eye sees one image and your right eye sees the other, your brain puts these two images together to make a 3D image. This makes it look like the movie or game is coming out of the screen and into your room!
So basically, LC shutter glasses help you see two different images, one for each eye, which tricks your brain into seeing a 3D image. Pretty cool, huh?
