ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

LGBT matters and religion

Sometimes people are born feeling like they are not just a boy or a girl, but something in between or something completely different. When people identify this way, they may be part of the LGBT community. LGBT stands for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender”.

Religion is a set of beliefs that people follow. Some religious people believe that people should only love and marry someone of the opposite gender, while others believe that love and marriage can happen between any two people, regardless of gender.

Some people in religious communities don’t accept the idea of LGBT matters because of what they believe in. However, there are also members of religious communities who support and accept LGBT people.

It is important to remember that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. Even if someone disagrees with another person's identity or beliefs, it is important to show respect and kindness towards them.
