Okay kiddo, so you know how some people like boys and some people like girls, right? Well, some people like both boys and girls, or they might not feel like a boy or a girl at all! And that's totally okay.
Now, because some people might not feel like they fit into the traditional categories of boy or girl or like both or neither, they came up with symbols to represent themselves and their communities. These symbols are called "LGBT symbols".
The most well-known LGBT symbol is the rainbow flag. It has lots of different colors, just like how there are lots of different people with different orientations and gender identities. The rainbow flag represents the whole LGBT community and is a sign of acceptance and pride in who they are.
There are also specific symbols, like the pink triangle or the black triangle, that were originally used by Nazis to identify and persecute gay people during World War II, but were then reclaimed by the LGBTQ+ community as symbols of resilience and strength.
There are many other LGBT symbols, too! Each one represents something different, like love, inclusivity, or visibility. They help people feel connected to their community and show that they are proud of who they are.
