LGBT themes in classical mythology

In classical mythology, which is a type of story from ancient Greece and Rome, there are a lot of characters who have different genders and sexualities. Some of these characters are gay, which means they are attracted to people of the same gender as themselves, and some of them are bisexual, which means they are attracted to people of both genders.

For example, there is a story about a god named Zeus who fell in love with a boy named Ganymede. Zeus was already married to a goddess named Hera, but he liked Ganymede so much that he kidnapped him and brought him up to Mount Olympus, where the gods lived. Ganymede became Zeus's cupbearer, which meant he poured wine for him and looked after him.

Another example is a story about a goddess named Aphrodite, who was married to a god named Hephaestus. But Aphrodite had an affair with another god named Ares, who was also married. They had a lot of secret meetings and even got caught by one of Aphrodite's children, who told Hephaestus about what was going on.

These stories show that people in ancient Greece and Rome were aware of and accepting of different sexual orientations and genders, even though their society was different from ours today. They saw love between people of the same gender as just as valid as love between people of different genders.
