ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

LHD (load, haul, dump machine)

Imagine you have a big sandbox filled with lots of sand. You want to move all that sand to a different place. But that's a lot of sand and it's too heavy for you to carry it all by yourself. That's where LHD machines come in!

A Load, Haul, Dump machine (LHD for short) is like a big truck that can move lots of sand (or rocks or dirt or any other material) at once. It has a big scoop (like a big spoon) in the front that can dig into the sand and pick it up. Then, it can drive around with the sand in its scoop and go to the place where you want to dump it.

Once it gets to the new place, it can tilt the scoop and dump all the sand out of it. This is called the "Dump" part of the machine's name. Then, it can go back and get more sand and repeat the process. This is called the "Load" and "Haul" parts of the machine's name.

So, basically, an LHD machine is like a big truck with a scoop in the front that can pick up lots of heavy things and move them around.
