Lalitavistara Sūtra

Okay kiddo, let's talk about something called the Lalitavistara Sutra. This is a really old Buddhist book that tells the story of the life of Buddha.

So you know how we celebrate your birthday every year and we tell the story of the day you were born? Well, the Lalitavistara Sutra does the same thing but it's about Buddha.

The book tells about how Buddha's mother, Queen Māyā, had a dream that a white elephant with six tusks came to her and entered her womb. This dream meant that she was going to give birth to a very special baby.

When Buddha was born, he didn't cry like most babies do. Instead, he stood up and took seven steps, and a lotus flower grew under each of his feet.

The book goes on to tell about Buddha's life and how he became enlightened, or found a really deep and important understanding about life.

It's a really important book for Buddhists because it helps them understand more about Buddha's life and teachings. So that's the Lalitavistara Sutra, Buddha's life story told in a really special book.
