Landfarming

Landfarming is like planting a garden, but instead of growing flowers or vegetables, we use it to break down harmful things that are in the soil like oil, gasoline, or other chemicals.

First, the contaminated soil is brought to a big outdoor area called a landfarm. Then, we spread the soil in a thin layer and mix it with natural materials like fertilizer, water, and bacteria which eat away at the harmful stuff. Just like how we need food and water to grow, the bacteria also need these things to thrive and break down the contaminants.

Over time, the bacteria will consume these harmful contaminants and help turn the soil back to its healthy, original state. This process can take weeks or even months, but it's a great way to make the polluted soil safe again.

At the end of the process, we test the soil to make sure it's clean and ready to be used again. Landfarming is a great way to take care of the environment and keep the soil free from harmful contamination.
